This is a combination of six fluoroquinolone antibiotics—besifloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gatifloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and ofloxacin. All are synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial agents that act by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This inhibition disrupts DNA replication and transcription in susceptible bacteria, leading to cell death. These drugs are primarily used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin infections, and ocular infections. Each agent has unique pharmacokinetic properties and antimicrobial spectra but shares the same core mechanism of action as bactericidal inhibitors of bacterial topoisomerases[3][6][8]. The use of multiple fluoroquinolones together is not standard clinical practice due to overlapping mechanisms and potential for increased toxicity or resistance.
