Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beta-cell specific single chain variable fragment (scFv) is a recombinant antibody fragment engineered to target pancreatic beta cells. Developed by researchers at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, this scFv is expressed in mammalian systems (such as 3T3 mouse fibroblasts) and purified. It specifically binds to cytoplasmic structures in pancreatic beta cells, including MIN6 cells and insulin-positive cells in murine pancreatic sections. It is under preclinical development as a non-invasive imaging probe, immunodiagnostic, and targeted immunotherapeutic reagent for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of beta-cell mass in diabetes.
