Beta2-spectrin small interfering RNA is an experimental RNA therapy designed to selectively inhibit the expression of beta2-spectrin (gene SPTBN1), a critical adaptor protein in the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway involved in cell differentiation, DNA repair, and tumor suppression, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma. By targeting beta2-spectrin mRNA, siRNA suppresses beta2-spectrin expression to study its role in various cellular processes and disease models, including liver cancer, cell cycle regulation, DNA damage repair, and membrane organization. Delivery of siRNA against beta2-spectrin upregulates cancer stem cell markers and dysregulates differentiation, whereas restoring beta2-spectrin suppresses malignant phenotypes[1][3][5].
