Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betacap is a potent topical corticosteroid formulation developed by Dermal Laboratories for the treatment of steroid-responsive dermatoses of the scalp. Its active ingredient is betamethasone valerate (0.1% w/w), a glucocorticoid that exerts anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor. The product is specifically formulated as a clear, slightly gelled scalp application containing a coconut-oil-derived emollient to minimize the drying effects typically associated with alcoholic scalp lotions. It is indicated for conditions such as scalp psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis that have not responded to less potent corticosteroids.
