Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betaflam Gel is a topical analgesic and anti-inflammatory formulation developed by Vilco Laboratories. It is a combination product containing diclofenac (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug), capsaicin, methyl salicylate, menthol, and linseed oil. Diclofenac acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis and alleviating inflammation and pain. Capsaicin desensitizes nociceptors, while methyl salicylate and menthol act as counter-irritants to provide cooling and analgesic effects. It is primarily used for the relief of musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, sprains, and neuralgia.
