Betaine-homocysteine S-methyltransferase (BHMT) is an enzyme primarily expressed in hepatocytes that plays a critical role in the methionine cycle and one-carbon metabolism. It catalyzes the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, utilizing betaine as a methyl donor.
