Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betamethasone butyrate propionate + maxacalcitol is a fixed-dose topical combination ointment used primarily for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. It combines two active ingredients: betamethasone butyrate propionate, a potent synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, and maxacalcitol, an active vitamin D3 analog that regulates keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation. The combination leverages the anti-inflammatory effects of the corticosteroid with the normalization of skin cell growth provided by the vitamin D3 analog, offering improved efficacy and convenience over monotherapy or sequential therapy for patients with plaque psoriasis[1][3][4][5]. The product was developed jointly by Chugai Pharmaceutical and Maruho.
