Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betamethasone sodium phosphate + betamethasone acetate is a fixed-dose injectable suspension containing two ester forms of the synthetic glucocorticoid betamethasone. The water-soluble sodium phosphate ester provides relatively prompt systemic glucocorticoid activity, while the sparingly soluble acetate ester provides a depot effect and more sustained exposure. It is used as an anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and immunosuppressive corticosteroid preparation for corticosteroid-responsive conditions, including selected allergic, dermatologic, rheumatic, musculoskeletal, hematologic, neurologic, renal, respiratory, ophthalmic, and gastrointestinal disorders. The combination is also administered locally by intra-articular, soft-tissue, or intralesional injection for inflammatory joint, tendon, and dermatologic lesions.
