Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betamethasone valerate + gentamicin is a combination medication used for the topical treatment of bacterial skin infections. It combines the anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-pruritic actions of betamethasone valerate (a synthetic glucocorticoid) with the antibacterial effects of gentamicin (an aminoglycoside antibiotic). Betamethasone reduces inflammation by blocking the production of prostaglandins that cause redness, swelling, and itching. Gentamicin prevents bacteria from synthesizing essential proteins required for their survival, effectively controlling bacterial infections.
