Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betamethasone valerate + hydrocortisone is a topical combination of two corticosteroids used to treat inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. Both components act as anti-inflammatory agents by suppressing the immune response and reducing redness, itching, swelling, and discomfort associated with various dermatoses. Betamethasone valerate is a medium-potency synthetic glucocorticoid with strong anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, while hydrocortisone is a naturally occurring glucocorticoid with milder potency but similar mechanisms of action. The combination may be considered when enhanced or broader anti-inflammatory activity is desired for topical management of corticosteroid-responsive skin disorders[2][3][4][5][10].
