Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betovumeline (also known as ML-007 or MPL-0527) is an investigational, orally administered small-molecule muscarinic receptor agonist that selectively targets M1 and M4 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. Developed by MapLight Therapeutics, it is designed to treat neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia, dyskinesias, and Alzheimer's disease psychosis, by modulating cholinergic signaling in the central nervous system without directly acting on dopamine receptors. To mitigate peripheral cholinergic side effects, betovumeline is primarily being developed as a fixed-dose, extended-release combination with the peripherally acting anticholinergic fesoterodine (known as ML-007C-MA).
