Overview
Betula folium D3 is a homeopathic or anthroposophic medicinal product developed by Abnoba GmbH. [1] It is an aqueous extract from the fresh leaves of the birch tree (*Betula pendula*), prepared as a D3 dilution according to the German Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia. [1] The 'D3' designation indicates a 1:1000 dilution. This product is formulated as a liquid for subcutaneous injection. [1] As a registered homeopathic medicine in Germany, it is marketed without specific therapeutic indications. [1, 12] However, traditionally, birch leaf preparations are used to increase urine production for flushing the urinary tract in cases of minor inflammatory conditions and to support treatment for rheumatic complaints. [3, 5, 6, 10] The mechanism of action is not defined in conventional pharmacological terms, but desired effects from its use in anthroposophic medicine include a slight increase in body temperature and increased diuresis, which are seen as signs of the patient's responsiveness. [1, 4]
