Betula lenta pollen extract

Betula lenta pollen extract is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Betula lenta (black or cherry birch) tree. It is used for both the diagnosis (via skin testing) and treatment (via immunotherapy) of allergies to birch pollen. [19, 23] As a non-standardized biological extract, it contains various allergenic proteins from the pollen. [23] Administration is typically through injection (subcutaneous, intradermal, or percutaneous). The principle of immunotherapy involves administering gradually increasing doses of the allergen to modulate the immune system's response, leading to increased tolerance and a reduction in allergic symptoms upon environmental exposure. [4, 9] The product is marketed by companies such as ALK-Abello, Inc. and Allermed Laboratories, Inc.
