betula verrucosa allergen extract

Itulazax (betula verrucosa allergen extract) is a sublingual allergy immunotherapy (AIT) tablet developed and manufactured by ALK-Abelló for the treatment of tree pollen-induced allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis. [3, 6] The product contains a standardized allergen extract from white birch (*Betula verrucosa*) pollen. [7, 11] It is indicated for patients with moderate-to-severe symptoms not well-controlled by conventional medications, and who have a confirmed sensitization to the birch homologous group of trees (which includes birch, alder, hazel, oak, and others). [7, 11] By administering a small, consistent daily dose of the allergen under the tongue, the therapy works to reprogram the immune system, gradually building tolerance and reducing the severity of allergic reactions to tree pollen. [2, 4, 7] Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing both allergy symptoms and the need for symptom-relieving medication during the entire tree pollen season. [1, 7]
