Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Betuvax-CoV-2 booster is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Artgen Biotech (formerly Human Stem Cells Institute) and its subsidiary Betuvax LLC for use as a booster vaccination against COVID-19. The vaccine's active component is a recombinant RBD-SD21-SD14-Fc fusion protein that targets the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This antigen is anchored to 100-180 nm spherical nanoparticles composed of betulin, a natural triterpene derived from birch bark. These nanoparticles serve as a corpuscular adjuvant, mimicking the size and morphology of the virus to enhance the immune response by facilitating antigen presentation. While the primary Betuvax-CoV-2 vaccine series has progressed to clinical trials, this specific booster formulation is currently in the preclinical stage of development as part of Artgen Biotech's pipeline.
