Overview

Bevacizumab + capecitabine is a combination regimen used primarily for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal malignancies. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting angiogenesis and thereby restricting tumor blood supply. Capecitabine is an oral prodrug of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), which interferes with DNA synthesis by inhibiting thymidylate synthase, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. This combination aims to both directly kill tumor cells and disrupt their blood supply, improving outcomes in advanced cancers[1][3][5][6][8].
