This is a combination therapy consisting of bevacizumab (an anti-angiogenic monoclonal antibody), capecitabine (a chemotherapy drug), and levocetirizine (an antihistamine). The combination was studied in a phase II clinical trial for patients with refractory metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The rationale behind this combination is that levocetirizine, which has anti-inflammatory and IL-8 suppression properties, may help overcome resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy (bevacizumab). Capecitabine works by disrupting DNA and RNA synthesis in cancer cells, while bevacizumab blocks tumor angiogenesis by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).
