Overview

Bevacizumab + carboplatin is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of certain cancers, most notably advanced epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancer. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits angiogenesis by targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby preventing the growth of new blood vessels that supply tumors. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. This combination may be administered with or without additional agents such as paclitaxel or gemcitabine depending on the specific indication and protocol. The regimen has demonstrated efficacy in prolonging progression-free survival but carries risks including hypertension, bleeding, thromboembolic events, proteinuria, and gastrointestinal perforation[3][4][5][6].
