Overview

Bevacizumab + cetuximab is a combination of two monoclonal antibody drugs used primarily in the treatment of certain cancers, including metastatic colorectal cancer and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Bevacizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting angiogenesis by preventing VEGF-A from binding to its receptors on endothelial cells. Cetuximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), blocking ligand binding and receptor activation, which inhibits tumor cell proliferation and survival. The combination has been studied for enhanced anti-tumor efficacy due to their complementary mechanisms—bevacizumab targeting tumor vasculature and cetuximab targeting tumor cell signaling[1][3][4].
