Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four agents: - **Bevacizumab** is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), thereby blocking angiogenesis and reducing tumor blood supply. - **Cisplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Gemcitabine** is a nucleoside analog (antimetabolite) that inhibits DNA synthesis, resulting in cell death. - **Vinorelbine** is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule formation during mitosis, inhibiting cell division. This combination has been studied primarily for the treatment of advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy and safety as an induction regimen followed by maintenance therapy with bevacizumab and vinorelbine. The regimen aims to maximize antitumor activity by targeting multiple pathways involved in tumor growth and survival[1][5].
