Overview

A combination therapy consisting of bevacizumab (a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor A), docetaxel (a taxane-based chemotherapy agent), and epirubicin (an anthracycline antibiotic). This regimen is primarily used for the treatment of HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer. The combination works through multiple mechanisms: bevacizumab inhibits angiogenesis, docetaxel disrupts the microtubule network essential for cell division, and epirubicin intercalates with DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, preventing DNA and RNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. It represents an intensive approach to treating metastatic breast cancer, offering substantial efficacy but requiring careful monitoring due to its toxicity profile.
