Bevacizumab + PD-1 monoclonal antibody is a combination therapy that leverages complementary mechanisms to enhance antitumor activity. Bevacizumab is a recombinant human monoclonal IgG1 antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), normalizing tumor blood vessels and reducing the formation of new blood vessels. PD-1 inhibitors are monoclonal antibodies that block the programmed cell death protein 1 pathway, enhancing T-cell activation and immune response against tumor cells. The combination has demonstrated synergistic effects by improving abnormal tumor vasculature, enhancing T-cell infiltration into tumors, and increasing the cytotoxic function of CD8+ T cells. This combination has shown promising results in clinical trials for various cancers, including melanoma brain metastases, non-small cell lung cancer, and colorectal cancer.
