The combination of bevacizumab, pemetrexed, and carboplatin is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen primarily used for the first-line treatment of advanced or metastatic nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting angiogenesis and thereby restricting tumor blood supply. Pemetrexed is an antifolate antimetabolite that disrupts folate-dependent metabolic processes essential for cell replication. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. This combination has demonstrated high response rates (>50%) and acceptable toxicity profiles in clinical studies, with maintenance therapy often involving continued use of pemetrexed and bevacizumab[1][2][6]. The regimen may also be considered for mesothelioma[3].
