Overview

Bevacizumab + trabectedin is a combination of two anticancer agents used in clinical trials for the treatment of certain cancers, including ovarian cancer and soft tissue sarcoma. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby blocking angiogenesis and reducing tumor blood supply. Trabectedin is an alkylating agent that binds to the minor groove of DNA, causing DNA damage, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis in cancer cells. Additionally, trabectedin modulates the tumor microenvironment by affecting tumor-associated macrophages and vascular endothelial cells. The combination aims to leverage both direct cytotoxic effects on tumors (trabectedin) and antiangiogenic activity (bevacizumab) for synergistic antitumor efficacy[1][2][3][5][6].
