Overview

bevacizumab + triamcinolone is a combination therapy investigated by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences for the treatment of macular edema and visual impairment associated with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to and neutralizes vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a key mediator of angiogenesis and vascular permeability. Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic corticosteroid that provides potent anti-inflammatory effects and stabilizes the blood-retinal barrier by inhibiting inflammatory cytokines and reducing capillary leakage. The combination is administered via intravitreal injection to provide a synergistic approach, targeting both the VEGF-driven and inflammatory pathways that contribute to retinal edema and vision loss in CRVO patients.
