Bevacizumab + yttrium-90 is a combination therapy used primarily in the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and other liver-dominant malignancies. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby blocking angiogenesis, while yttrium-90 is a beta-emitting radioisotope delivered via transarterial radioembolization (TARE) or selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT). The combination leverages the antiangiogenic effects of bevacizumab with the localized cytotoxic effects of targeted internal radiation from yttrium-90 microspheres.
