bevacizumab-bvzr

Bevacizumab-bvzr is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody to bevacizumab (Avastin). It functions as a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor, specifically binding to VEGF-A. By preventing VEGF-A from interacting with its receptors on endothelial cells, bevacizumab-bvzr inhibits angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels that tumors require for growth and metastasis. This action effectively starves tumors of their blood supply and can also normalize tumor vasculature, potentially enhancing the efficacy of concomitant chemotherapy. It is approved for the treatment of various cancers, including metastatic colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, glioblastoma, metastatic renal cell carcinoma, cervical cancer, and epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer. It is also being investigated for recurrent respiratory papillomatosis.
