Overview

Bevanolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist with additional alpha-1 adrenergic blocking activity. It is primarily indicated for the management of hypertension and angina pectoris. By blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, it reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility, while its alpha-1 blocking properties contribute to peripheral vasodilation, collectively lowering blood pressure. Bevanolol has been noted in clinical research for its potential impact on sexual function in hypertensive patients compared to other beta-blockers. It was originally developed by Warner-Lambert and is marketed in several countries, including China and Japan.
