bexotegrast

Bexotegrast is an oral, small molecule drug in development for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and primary sclerosing cholangitis. It acts as a dual-selective inhibitor of the integrins αvβ6 and αvβ1, which are upregulated in fibrotic tissues. By blocking these integrins from activating transforming growth factor β (TGF-β), bexotegrast prevents TGF-β from binding to its receptors and initiating profibrogenic signaling pathways that drive fibrosis. Bexotegrast has demonstrated dose-dependent antifibrotic effects in clinical trials, including improvements in forced vital capacity (FVC) and reductions in biomarkers associated with fibrosis.
