Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Bexsero** is a multicomponent recombinant protein and outer-membrane-vesicle vaccine developed originally by Novartis Vaccines for prevention of invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B. The vaccine contains recombinant factor H-binding protein, Neisserial adhesin A, and Neisserial heparin-binding antigen, plus outer membrane vesicles containing PorA from the NZ98/254 strain; these antigens induce bactericidal antibodies against meningococcal B bacteria. It is aluminum hydroxide-adjuvanted and administered by intramuscular injection. Bexsero is now manufactured by GSK and is approved in the United States for individuals aged 10 through 25 years.
