BF175 is a small molecule inhibitor designed to target Sterol Regulatory Element-Binding Protein 1 (SREBP1), a transcription factor that serves as a master regulator of de novo lipogenesis. In many cancers, including endometrial cancer, SREBP1 and its downstream targets like fatty acid synthase (FASN) are overexpressed to meet the metabolic demands of rapidly proliferating cells. BF175 represses SREBP1-dependent gene expression, leading to the inhibition of lipid synthesis, suppression of tumor cell growth, and induction of apoptosis. Preclinical studies presented at AACR 2013 demonstrated its efficacy in endometrial cancer xenograft models and across a broad panel of over 100 cancer cell lines from 12 different cancer types.
