Overview

BFP-TA is the total alkaloid extract from Bulbus Fritillariae pallidiflorae, a traditional Chinese medicinal plant. BFP-TA has demonstrated therapeutic effects in preclinical models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), where it reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6), mitigates oxidative stress, and modulates matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-9, MMP-12) and their inhibitor TIMP-1. Its mechanism appears to involve inhibition of the MAPK pathway, modulation of the SIRT1/Nrf2/Keap1 axis, and regulation of PPAR and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. The active constituents are alkaloids but individual chemical identification remains to be clarified. BFP-TA is under investigation for lung disease, primarily COPD, in preclinical models[1][3].
