BG-101 is a preclinical-stage gene therapy candidate developed by BlissGene Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic pain. The therapeutic approach involves targeting nociceptive pathways within the dorsal root ganglion (DRG), which serves as a key relay station for sensory information, including pain signals, traveling from the periphery to the central nervous system. By delivering genetic material to modulate these pathways at the source, BG-101 aims to provide a durable, non-opioid alternative for patients suffering from persistent pain conditions. The program is currently in the preclinical phase of development.
