Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BG-777 is a small molecule immunomodulator developed by Bionomics, originally identified through the acquisition of Iliad Chemicals and its MultiCore drug discovery platform. It functions as a Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) agonist, designed to stimulate the innate immune system to enhance the clearance of viral and bacterial pathogens. By activating TLR7, BG-777 induces the production of interferon-alpha and other pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are critical for an effective immune response against infections such as Hepatitis C and various solid tumors. Although it demonstrated promising activity in preclinical models, the compound has not progressed into late-stage clinical development and is currently considered a research-stage or inactive asset.
