Overview

BG2204 is an autologous Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy targeting cadherin 17 (CDH17), a calcium-dependent transmembrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed in the gastrointestinal epithelium and overexpressed in various gastrointestinal malignancies. Developed by Guangzhou Bio-gene Technology, BG2204 involves the genetic engineering of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes CDH17 on the surface of tumor cells. Upon binding, the CAR-T cells undergo activation and expansion, mediating the direct lysis of CDH17-positive malignant cells. The therapy is currently being investigated in Phase I clinical trials for its safety and preliminary efficacy in patients with advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer.
