Overview

BG505 is an investigational HIV vaccine candidate based on the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env) trimer. It is designed to induce broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) by mimicking the native-like Env trimer, presenting conserved epitopes to the immune system. Various forms, including soluble, membrane-bound, and SOSIP-stabilized versions (e.g., BG505 MD39.3, BG505 SOSIP.664 gp140, BG505 SOSIP.GT1.1 gp140), are being evaluated, often in combination with adjuvants such as TLR agonists (e.g., 3M-052-AF, 3M-052-SE) and alum, to enhance the immune response against HIV infections.
