Overview

BG505 SOSIP GT1.1 gp140 is an experimental HIV-1 vaccine candidate designed as a soluble, cleavage-competent trimeric envelope glycoprotein (gp140) based on the HIV-1 strain BG505 and engineered for germline-targeting to elicit broadly neutralizing antibody (bnAb) precursors against conserved epitopes of the virus[3][4][6]. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly and formulated with an adjuvant to enhance immune response[3][5]. It aims to induce B cell responses capable of maturing into protective bnAbs by targeting the CD4 binding site (CD4bs) and other conserved regions on the HIV envelope protein[4][6]. The immunogen was developed using structure-based design approaches to optimize its ability to engage diverse naive B cell receptors relevant for bnAb development[4][6]. Primary indication is prevention of HIV infection.
