BGA007 is a preclinical-stage anti-gene peptide nucleic acid (Ag-PNA) oligonucleotide developed by Biogenera SpA that targets the Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4) gene for the treatment of solid tumors and cancer. Utilizing the proprietary MyGenera platform, BGA007 is designed to bind directly to the PLK4 gene sequence within chromosomal DNA, blocking transcription and subsequent protein expression. PLK4 is a critical regulator of centriole duplication, and its overexpression is associated with genomic instability and tumorigenesis. By inhibiting PLK4 at the genomic level, BGA007 aims to provide a more potent and selective therapeutic approach compared to traditional antisense technologies that target mRNA.
