Overview
BGA008 is a preclinical-stage anti-gene peptide nucleic acid (Ag-PNA) oligonucleotide developed by Biogenera for the treatment of various cancers. It utilizes a proprietary platform to target the B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL2) gene directly at the genomic level. By binding to the BCL2 DNA sequence, BGA008 inhibits the transcription of the BCL2 protein, which is a key regulator of apoptosis often overexpressed in malignant cells. The inhibition of BCL2 is intended to trigger programmed cell death in tumors, providing a targeted approach to oncology. The drug is currently in the early stages of preclinical development, following the completion of initial research phases.
