Overview

BGB-DXP593 is a neutralizing monoclonal antibody targeting the spike glycoprotein (S) of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. Developed by BeiGene, it is designed to inhibit viral entry into host cells by blocking the interaction between the viral spike protein and the human ACE2 receptor. Preclinical studies demonstrated strong activity in reducing viral RNA copy number in animal models infected with SARS-CoV-2. In clinical trials, BGB-DXP593 was evaluated for safety and efficacy in patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, showing good tolerability but only inconsistent reductions in viral load compared to placebo[1][4][5]. The antibody has a wild-type human IgG1 Fc region, supporting normal effector functions such as binding to Fc receptors and complement activation[5].
