Overview

BGM0504 is a dual agonist peptide targeting both the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR). Developed by BrightGene Bio-Medical Technology, it is designed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. The drug was engineered using molecular dynamics-guided optimization to enhance its agonistic activity compared to tirzepatide, another dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist. Preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that BGM0504 has twofold to threefold greater potency than tirzepatide in activating GLP-1R and GIPR, with superior efficacy in glycemic control and weight reduction. It also exhibits an extended half-life suitable for once-weekly dosing. Clinical trials have shown favorable safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and significant reductions in body weight among participants[2][3][5][6][8].
