BGS1949

BGS1949 is a long-acting, unimolecular tri-agonist targeting the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR), and glucagon receptor (GCGR). Developed by BrightGene Bio-Medical Technology, the drug is designed to treat metabolic disorders, including obesity and type 2 diabetes. By simultaneously activating these three pathways, BGS1949 aims to achieve superior weight loss and glycemic control compared to mono- or dual-agonists. GLP-1R and GIPR activation enhance insulin secretion and suppress appetite, while GCGR activation increases energy expenditure and lipid metabolism. The drug is currently being evaluated in early-stage clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in weight management and metabolic regulation.
