BGT-PD is an investigational adeno-associated virus serotype 2 (AAV2) gene therapy being developed by Bloomsbury Genetic Therapies for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The therapy is designed to deliver a functional copy of the *SLC6A3* gene, which encodes the dopamine transporter (DAT), directly into the brain. By restoring DAT expression and function, BGT-PD aims to improve the regulation of synaptic dopamine levels, potentially providing a more stable therapeutic effect and reducing the motor fluctuations associated with standard oral levodopa treatment. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
