Overview

BH-002 is a dual-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Essen Biotech. It is genetically engineered to express CARs targeting both CD19 and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). CD19 is a marker for B cells, while BCMA is predominantly expressed on plasma cells. By simultaneously targeting both, BH-002 aims to achieve a more profound depletion of the B-cell lineage, including the long-lived plasma cells that produce pathogenic autoantibodies in autoimmune diseases. The therapy is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical development for refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and several other autoimmune conditions, including systemic sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
