Overview

**BHQ880 + zoledronic acid** is a combination therapy used in clinical studies for the management of multiple myeloma-related bone disease. BHQ880 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that neutralizes Dickkopf-1 (DKK1), a protein overexpressed in myeloma cells and known to suppress osteoblast function, thereby contributing to bone disease. By blocking DKK1, BHQ880 aims to stimulate bone formation and may have anti-myeloma activity. **Zoledronic acid** is a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption by binding to hydroxyapatite in bone and disrupting osteoclast function. The combination is delivered intravenously and targets both the prevention of bone loss (zoledronic acid) and active bone regeneration (BHQ880), with the added potential to reduce myeloma burden.
