Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BHS nasal irrigation salt** is a pre-mixed powder formulation used to prepare a 1.25% buffered hypertonic sodium chloride nasal-irrigation solution. Developed in a clinical research setting by Thammasat University for pediatric allergic rhinitis, it is a non-pharmacological irrigant rather than a conventional molecularly targeted medicine. Its therapeutic effect is physical: intranasal irrigation helps remove mucus and irritants, supports mucociliary clearance, and may reduce nasal congestion and other allergic-rhinitis symptoms. In a randomized double-blind study in children with symptomatic allergic rhinitis, buffered hypertonic saline irrigation was compared with normal saline and was associated with improved saccharine clearance time, nasal symptom measures, and reduced oral antihistamine use.
