Overview

BI-4659 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of ALK5, also known as TGFβ receptor I. It inhibits ALK5 with an IC50 of 19 nM and blocks the phosphorylation of SMAD2 and SMAD3 in cells. The compound demonstrates good selectivity against a broad panel of other kinases and is primarily used as an in vitro research tool to study TGFβ signaling pathways[1][2][3][4][5]. There are no indications that it has been developed for clinical or therapeutic use.
