Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BI02130086 is a long-acting selective glucagon receptor (GCGR) agonist developed by Boehringer Ingelheim. It is being investigated in preclinical models of obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) to evaluate the therapeutic impact of normalizing insulin resistance and inducing weight loss. In experimental models of stroke in T2D mice, pre-stroke treatment with BI02130086 was shown to improve post-stroke functional recovery and reduce neuroinflammation, highlighting the potential of glucagon receptor agonism and weight management in improving stroke prognosis in patients with type 2 diabetes.
