Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bianju Niaoyan is a Chinese patent medicine developed and manufactured by Zhuzhou Qianjin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of lower urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as cystitis and urethritis, which present with symptoms of "heat-strangury" (damp-heat in the bladder) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The formulation is based on the classic Ba Zheng San (Eight-Herb Powder for Rectification) formula and typically contains a combination of herbs including *Polygonum aviculare* (Bianju), *Plantago asiatica* (Cheqianzi), and *Gardenia jasminoides* (Zhizi). Pharmacologically, it exerts diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects, helping to clear heat, detoxify the urinary tract, and alleviate painful, frequent, or urgent urination.
