Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BIBF 1120 capsules charge 2 is a specific soft gelatine capsule formulation (specifically batch/charge 2) of nintedanib (BIBF 1120), developed by Boehringer Ingelheim. It was evaluated in a Phase I open-label, randomized, crossover clinical trial (NCT02182193) to assess the relative bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of two different soft gelatine capsule formulations (Charge 1 and Charge 2) compared to an oral drinking solution of nintedanib in healthy male volunteers. The active ingredient, nintedanib, is a small molecule triple angiokinase inhibitor that targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR 1-3), platelet-derived growth factor receptors (PDGFR alpha/beta), and fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR 1/3). Nintedanib is approved under the brand names Ofev and Vargatef for indications such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
